Rigid Truck & Combination Trailer Licences

Course Aim:
Our course aim is to provide training and assessment so a heavy vehicle driver can be licensed to drive a class 2-4 or class 3-5 truck or combination.
Driver Objectives
The drivers objective is to demonstrate knowledge and skill by:
Learner
- Passing a medical (if applicable)
- Passing a learner licence theory test
Course
- Passing a logbook theory assessment (if applicable )
- Passing a stress management theory assessment (required for class 5 only)
- Passing a heavy vehicle dynamic theory assessment
- Passing a 40 minute practical drive assessment using the relevant class of vehicle which is loaded to 50% of its lift capacity
Pre-course requirements
Heavy Rigid Class 2 or Class 4
- Drivers must hold the relevant learner licence (we are able to assist with training )
- The vehicle provide a load for practical assessment only ( we are able to assist)
- Provide a the relevant vehicle for training and assessment (we are able to hire for you at your cost)
Heavy Combination Class 3 or Class 5
- Drivers must hold the relevant learner licence (we are able to assist with training )
- The vehicle provide a load for practical assessment only ( we are able to assist)
- Provide a the relevant vehicle for training and assessment (we are able to hire for you at your cost)
LTNZ Approved Certificate
Once the training objectives have been completed and passed the driver will be issued with a certificate which he/she can take to any LTNZ Agency to have that class entered onto their licence.
Note: The candidate should not drive that class until they have been issued with a temporary drivers licence with the new class added.
Type of Licence Classes
Class 2 - Any heavy vehicle with a GVM between 4,500 kg to 15001 kg
Class 3 - Any heavy vehicle combination GVM between 12,000 kg to 25,001 kg
Class 4 - Any heavy vehicle with a GVM of more than 15000 kg
Class 5 - Any heavy vehicle combination with a GVM of more 25000 kg
